Stones that are commonly old as parcel substitutes allow the real fashionable cubic zirconium, which is heavier than field tho’ it wears less asymptomatic and can discolour over measure. It is still the one very popular diamond substitute that you can easily obtain, it wears very good and is stunning to look at.

A more expensive alternative to cubic zirconium is moissanite.  This stone is based on a meteorite gem and is produced synthetically. The stone is twice as brilliant and slightly harder than diamond. (one thing that adds to its beauty but may lead to discovery by some who prefer the muted fire of a diamond stone)leading some people to feel that it has a faint greenish tinge. Moissanite has its good and bad points, but it just depends on what you like.

Instead of a diamond, the white sapphire has been used for hundreds of years. The white sapphire is a beautiful stone in itself and the beauty of it is it can be cut just like a diamond but one must be aware that it is softer and less durable.

The only limits to considering a stone that is outside the diamond look-alike field are those you set yourself. Because the stone will be worn constantly over a long period of time it is wise to choose stones with strength and hardness: ruby, sapphire, jade, and similar stones are good choices.

Selecting a color that goes well with many other colors is a good choice. Aside from this, the whole vista of gems is available.  A star sapphire or other carborundum such as ruby? Naturally. This is a gorgeous variation in comparison to a faceted diamond stone. Is not the idea of a solid gold mounting studded with a carved jade fascinating? It lasts a long time and comes in a variety of colors.
